Alongside GridLink's core activity — services related to the grid connection process and compliance requirements — our engineering team also delivers specialist technical studies and expert analyses that reach beyond that scope.
We prepare independent expert opinions, analyses and technical documentation on an individual commission, tailored to the specifics of each project. Our studies are built on many years of hands-on experience gained while connecting generation units of all categories (type A, B, C and D) to the networks of electricity system operators, ensuring a high substantive standard and compliance with the applicable technical requirements.
Thanks to our engineering competencies and operational knowledge, we prepare scientific and technical analyses, reports and studies covering short-circuit calculations, transient-state analysis, the selection of electrical equipment and switchgear, and the review of design documentation. We work for owners, investors and technical teams that need independent, engineering-grade verification before making a decision.
Areas of specialist work
We deliver each of the areas below either as a standalone technical study dedicated to a specific facility, or as part of a wider scope of technical documentation.
Specialist studies and expert analyses (Studies & Analysis)
We prepare detailed expert reports and analyses aimed at solving technical problems and supporting key investment decisions. The starting point is measurement data and testing, on the basis of which we perform calculations and scientific-technical analyses concluding with advisory recommendations.
Assessment and audit of design documentation (Design Review)
We independently verify design and as-built documentation prepared by an external designer or contractor. We identify gaps, technical risks and inconsistencies, as well as potential non-conformities with design requirements, standards, grid codes, operator standards and connection conditions. The scope covers, among others, primary and secondary circuits, protection and control — in the context of the acceptance requirements of substations, industrial infrastructure facilities and main supply points (GPZ), both onshore and offshore.
We provide the service as an independent technical opinion (second opinion) for the owner or investor. We do not replace the designer and we do not take over responsibility for their documentation or the solutions adopted — we carry out a functional and technological review.
Power evacuation layout and systems
We carry out the analysis and selection of components of the industrial power supply and power evacuation systems — from generation sources (type A, B, C and D) connected to the National Power System (KSE), through onshore and offshore facilities and industrial plants, to captive renewable electricity sources. We tailor the final solutions to the individual configuration and requirements of the units or facilities connected to the operator's network.
Short-circuit calculations and transient-state analysis
We perform short-circuit calculations in accordance with IEC 60909 and transient-state (dynamic) analysis using specialist calculation tools. We assess the short-circuit withstand capability of equipment, select and coordinate electrical switchgear, and verify the correctness of the adopted solutions, taking into account the requirements of the power evacuation system and the connection conditions.
Commissioning programmes and operating manuals
We develop and verify commissioning (start-up) programmes and operating manuals for power and industrial facilities — both for operator acceptance and from the owner's perspective, i.e. safe operation and maintenance.
Compliance reports for generation units against grid code requirements
We prepare analyses and compliance assessments for generation units — synchronous and non-synchronous (inertia-based and inverter-based), including energy storage and hybrid sources. The scope covers compliance reports against operator requirements and grid codes for units connected to the National Power System (KSE), for the purposes of investment and connection processes and arrangements with the operator.
Technological and regulatory scope
We work with conventional and non-conventional technologies across a wide voltage range — from 1 kV to 400 kV — using current standards, regulations and grid codes (NC RfG, NC ER, NC DC, IRiESP, IRiESD).
How we define our remit
Our studies are analytical, advisory and review-based in nature, carried out on the owner's or investor's side. We perform calculations, analyses, reviews and reports, and we identify risks and recommendations. We do not replace the designer and we do not act as a general (EPC) contractor. We recommend proven technical solutions that are acceptable to the operator — functional and safe from the standpoint of operation and of the continuity of supply and of the facility's functioning.
The engineering expertise
The engineering side is led by Michał Gajdzica, PhD (Eng.), co-founder of GridLink and an academic lecturer specialising in power systems, protection, the grid connection process and the technical assessment of large-scale generation asset projects. In total, the team has connected more than 800 MVA of capacity to operators' networks.
